My name is Ran Sophia Dalton, and I am so excited about teaching 5th grade at Barnard. I earned a Master's degree in Linguistics, and a Bachelor's degree in Teaching Chinese as Foreign Language.
Prior to coming to Barnard, I have taught kids from Kindergarten to 12th grade in public school and private school settings, as well as college students. I am also a certified AP Chinese teacher in teaching AP Chinese Language and Culture Course.
I firmly believe that every child is entitled to an enriching education, respect and professionalism on the part of their instructors. The goal of my classroom is to motivate students in ascertaining their inner strengths, unlocking their abilities in the languages, supporting class activities that inspire them, and preparing them to become future global citizens.
I am originally from Beijing, China. Outside of school, I am passionate about hiking, travelling, reading and practicing Yoga. I am also a hockey fan rooting for San Jose Sharks. My husband and I are living happily with our four sheltered cats, Chopin, Leo, Link and Mimi, and Trott, an Australian Shepard.
