My name is Suzanne Chin, also known as Lin Laoshi at Barnard. Lin is my maiden surname. I am originally from Taiwan. My family moved to Singapore and then to Vancouver, Canada where I began my teaching career. I completed my university education and teacher training at University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, where I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Education with two concentrations in teaching fine arts and foreign language, Mandarin. In 2006, I earned a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. I moved to San Diego in 2010 and have been teaching here at Barnard since then. Here in California, I hold the Single Subject (Mandarin) and Multiple Subjects (Elementary School) teaching credentials as well as GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) certification.
As a parent and a teacher, I am deeply committed to building a strong foundation in their learning during their formative years. It is important for me to inspire in them the joy and love of learning at a young age. When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my wonderful husband and twin girls, Kathryn and Madelyn
